A New Kind of Classic
Sackville is one of those streets where every second home is a villa. It’s a neighbourhood full of stories, fretwork, and history. So why build something new here?
Because while we admire the charm, we’re more interested in how people actually live today.
We designed this pair of homes to offer an alternative. Not a replica. Not a statement. Just a quietly confident response to their context, where form respects the street, and function respects the people who’ll live there. The gable nods to the familiar, but the detail, materiality, and layout are entirely contemporary.
Built for Now
The truth is, older homes often fall short of modern expectations. Cold in winter. Overheated in summer. Chopped up inside. Light where you don’t need it and dark where you do.
Building new gives us the opportunity to get it right from the start. Orientation, natural light, passive performance—it’s all considered from day one. We can design for how people move through space, where they gather, how they connect to the outdoors.
And we don’t have to choose between comfort and character.
We just have to rethink what character can mean.
Not Loud, Just Considered
These homes aren’t trying to outshine their neighbours. They sit back from the street with a simple silhouette and a restrained palette. They don’t shout for attention, but they reward a second look. There’s depth in the facade. Tactility in the materials. And a sense of lightness that you feel the moment you step inside.
This project is a reminder that good design isn’t about excess.
It’s about clarity. Simplicity. And knowing where to focus your attention.
A Better Kind of Familiar
We often hear from clients who love the look of villas but not the way they live. Sackville shows there’s another way. One that respects what’s come before without being bound by it. One that uses modern methods to deliver warmth, efficiency, and longevity. One that feels timeless, not because it’s old, but because it’s well-resolved.
In a suburb full of villas, this is something different.
Not in opposition. Just in quiet conversation.
